Quod oculus meus videt

Under Examination

Today was my flight evaluation for a commercial pilot's licence for drone photography.  Thankfully, by the time I took this photograph my test was over...........and I've been told verbally I passed.

Not that it was all plain sailing.  When I arrived and started to set up the equipment, the iPad I was going to use resolutely refused to switch on, despite having charged it that morning.  Panic almost set in, but I always had the back up of the phone if I needed.  In the end it finally played ball after I disconnected everything and started again.

The examiner, Matt, was seeing 9 candidates during the day.  I have to say he made you feel very much at ease and I really started to enjoy the experience, chatting to him while we went through various exercises and emergency scenarios.  They want you to pass, so it's really down to you having done your homework so you provided the right information and react appropriately to the issues that he raises with you.

All that is left now is completion of an operations manual and then submission to the CAA for my permission for commercial operations.
