Mantis On Lichen

Each day I search in vane for a praying mantis. At this time of year there should be several in obvious places. But today I spotted one on the white trunk of the apple tree. I took some photos of her and then did something else for a few minutes. When I passed her again she had caught a fly.

An ootheca (egg case) appeared nearby last week. Perhaps it is hers and she has remained in the vicinity.

The lichen is the one I blipped last week- Lecanora carpinea, I think.
