South Shields

It was a beautiful day right from the start. We headed off to the camera shop to see if the lovely gentlemen there could sort out my dodgy lens. He was completely sympathetic and said he would send it back as it really should have lasted longer than it did. The service here is excellent and the reason we keep going back. We then headed to the coast and enjoyed a lovely walk along the prom at South Shields. It is where the Great North Run finishes so you may be familiar with the location. It was warm enough to be coatless and I even had bare arms! Not often one can say that on this coast. I could not choose just one photograph so it's another collage. I had to stop at Souter for the lighthouse - bluebells growing at the front this time. Another stop to blip Marsden Rock - overcrowded with nesting birds right now. Next stop was Littlehaven beach with lovely views of Tynemouth Priory and we walked along to the Herd Groyne Lighthouse - a very interesting structure built in 1882. At that end of the prom there is brilliant installation of 22 figures by Juan Munoz. It is called "Conversation Piece " locally known as " The Weeblies". We had a lovely morning and there is still so much for us to discover in this part of the world.
