The Lozarithm Lens

Devizes (Sunday 19th May 2019)

Finding myself in Devizes' glamorous east side in the late afternoon, my towpath walk plans were suddenly curtailed by a downpour. I'd just had time to get one hurried and imperfect shot of this heron on the other side of the canal, at an equivalent 1600mm, just opposite the Hourglass pub.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Eddie Floyd - Bring It On Home To Me (1968)
As a teenager I was aware that Sam Cooke had made the original of this when I heard the superb version by the Animals in 1965, but to me then that would have been ancient history (1962) and of no interest; hopelessly dated.  The song is credited to Sam Cooke but is actually a secular reworking of Charles Brown's 1959 gospel-based single I Want To Go Home, and retained the call-and-response format.
If I ever heard Eddie Floyd's version, backed by Booker T and the MGs and produced by their guitarist Steve Cropper, when it was released as a single in the UK in 1969 I don't remember it at all, but I liked it today when I heard it on Cerys Matthews' show in the morning.
