Harrogate Then & Now...

... has been a theme of around 50 of my blips over the years. This one is different because there are two 'then' photos, conveniently from roughly the same viewpoint. This is of the scene opposite Harrogate Railway Station on Station Parade.

The top picture was taken in 1913 but the second one, definitely post-war has no date. Behind the tree in the top picture we can see the roof of the old Market Hall, devastated by a major fire in 1937.

The second picture has the replacement Market Hall which was knocked down in the early 1990s to be replaced by the current Victoria Centre.

It is quite interesting to see the number of buildings featured in all three photographs, mainly on the left hand side of the picture.
