Life through the lens...

Spectacular.

We were sorry to leave our cottage this morning. Have had such a wonderful few days. Will certainly be back to the area. Just a beautiful part of Wales.

A place I have always wanted to visit is Symonds Yat, and as it was on our way home decided to do a short detour.
Drove up to the top and parked near the viewing spot.
Wow! What stunning views of the spectacular gorge through which the River Wye snakes.
The name comes from Robert Symonds a 17th century Sherrif of Herefordshire, and Yat, an old word for a gate or pass.
No sight of the peregrine falcons, but did see a pair of nuthatches busy collecting food to feed their young.
Another area we will visit again.

Not as happy with the rest of our journey home. Signs on the M42 saying M 1 closed north bound, so we detoured across to the A38 via Derby.
A nightmare of a journey.
Made a note not ever to travel on a Bank Holiday Friday again.

Now home, and first lot of washing done.
The journey has been forgotten, and just the memory of a wonderful holiday spent with good friends and a bonus of great weather, remains.

Hope you all enjoy the Bank Holiday Weekend.
