Derry

After a night of sleeping on the floor, with our heads under chairs to stifle the noise and glaring lights, we arrived in Belfast at 6.30. A short ride to the station and we caught the train to Derry Londonderry. We spent a couple of hours walking the city walls, having lunch and then cycled to Bogside to look at the murals. This picture was taken of some of the murals from the city walls.

I grew up with all the northern Ireland troubles but seeing how close the two opposing sides were, and how much they were in each other’s faces was something I had not comprehended.
