A walk in the dark

We went on the evening guided bird walk tonight around St Ives Estate. The aim was to learn about crepuscular birds - I know it's a great word isn't it?
Unfortunately it was a bit windy when we got to the top and although there was one woodcock which flew over us, we weren't able to hear them. No nightjars in evidence in Betty's Wood either and even the owls were keeping quiet, although we did get a glimpse of the little owls in their usual spot.
Still it was an interesting couple of hours. These walks are organised by the Friends of St Ives and guided by a very knowledgeable gentleman, and they are free!
