In remembrance

The Lantern Floating Ceremony took place here on the evening of Memorial Day at Ala Moana Beach Park.   This year marks its 20th anniversary, with an estimated 50,000+ people attending, and 7,000 lanterns being floated.   These shots are not the best, but the feeling is there.  The spots on the lens are light rain and the shake is emotion and crowding.   Box jellies were forecast, but not in evidence.   The line in the morning for lantern pickup was the longest I've seen, literally snaking thru the park to the tent.  The bright starbursts in the extra are the boats that corral the lanterns and retrieve them to be used again.   For some reason, the pickup was started early this year.   My sister came with me; it was good to have her company.
