Holiday day 7: around Baile-na-Cille (1)

I moved my bike just once today, and that was simply to put it into the shed when it started to rain this evening. I have very much enjoyed a day of rest, mostly lounging around the house. We only popped out twice, both times with Richard in his car.

First we went out for lunch at Lochcroistean. Here we were joined by the other two couples who are staying at Baile-na-Cille. On the way back to the guest house we checked progress on the laying of a carpet at the house in Reef. Richard warned us that it was 'hideous' so I was expecting some dreadful multi-patterned synthetic floor covering in shades of sludge brown and orange. I was only correct in one respect: 'synthetic'. Otherwise, the carpet was a completely inoffensive grey that fits in nicely with the décor of the cottage.

Our second excursion came after dinner. We drove around the bay to visit Soo and her family - mother, father, aunt, brother, daughters, nieces, family friend, dogs - who are all staying in Uig Lodge this week. It was lovely to see them all, and we hope that they may call in on us tomorrow on the last full day of their holiday on Lewis. On the way back from the lodge we returned to the house at Reef to confirm that the carpet was fully laid. Along the way there and back we played deer safari from the car.

I have blipped a highland cow and her calf that we saw on our way over to Reef this afternoon.

Exercise today: none.
