Six weeks on ...

That's a month and a half, and I knew time wouldn't stand still in my absence, yet the sudden switch from spring to summer still takes me by surprise (especially via an antipodean autumn). Sheep have been shorn, lambs have grown, and trees' bare branches are in full leaf.

These two images were the strongest in my mind at the end of our walk today: gulls following a fishing boat, beyond the green headland, and a cow with her suckling calf.
