Into the eye of the needle

A long and uncomfortable day at sea. We had a heavy swell on the beam of the ship and a strong headwind making for a lot of unpleasant corkscrew motion. This gradually eased as we turned east towards he Bristol Channel.
There were plenty of puffins to see though and a Harbour Porpoise showed itself briefly.
We picked up a pilot near the Avonmouth Docks and he guided the ship into this tiny lock system where we will spend the night before setting off to the Bay of Biscay tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a gentler sea.
