Holiday day 12: Ardvoulie to Scarista

We were treated to a beautiful sunset from Scarista beach this evening after a relatively easy day of cycling from Ardvoulie to Scarista.

The ride started with the challenge of the Clisham, which was rewarded with a hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream at the other side. We stopped for lunch at the Heb in Tarbert, then tackled the big hill out of the village to the south over to Luskentyre. By the time we reached the west coast of South Harris the sun was out again and the wind had dropped - hurrah!

We're now settling into a very traditional Hebridean croft bed and breakfast. The window from our huge bedroom offers a wonderful view that looks straight out across Scarista beach and over to Toe Head. The Talla na Mara restaurant is just three miles back along the road, so we ate there this evening and plan to do the same for the rest of our stay here.

Exercise today: around 35 miles of cycling in total.
