Kirkton Kirk

This kirk was built in 1744, but there was a church on the site before that time.  The church was used regularly until 1870, when a new church was built nearer the village of Aberfoyle, and to stop people using Kirkton, the roof was taken off. 

 I have added a another view of the church in extras.  The two iron coffins that sit at the entrance to the church would have been used to stop grave robbers taking the bodies.

We had a fairly pleasant day, but with some heavy showers.  The HG did a 7 mile walk, while I pottered along to the church and walked just under two miles, which I am pretty pleased with.  My recovery is going well.
