Rainy day preening

It's pouring and our resident male Ruby Throated Hummingbird is on one of his favorite perches. He sits by a feeder, shielded from the rain under an outside light shade. He perches for long stretches at a time on a piece of branch from our walking stick tree. Last year I attached the stick under the light, it's a perfect spot for resting and preening his magnificent feathers.

I picked up a big screw complete with a washer in a front tire yesterday while at the dump, grrr. The Subaru is at the tire shop waiting to have the tire plugged. We only have one car, so it's a good thing we live close to my brother and sister in law. Donna drove T to the train this morning and my brother will take me to pick it up later.

For the Record,
This day came in with heavy rain and dark skies.

All hands happy about the rain, washing the pollen away, everything was coated with yellow.

Get well wishes for David Ortiz who has been flown by the Red Sox to Boston for continued treatment.
