If you can't beat them...

Sisyrinchium.

An early start heading for the outskirts of Durham.  We were off to a party celebrating the marriage of Clickychick's God Daughter last week.  We had ample time so stopped in Barnard Castle for  break and look round.  What a lovely place and such a thriving main street.  Surely that had nothing to do with the ample free parking.

The weather was kind, (well it wasn't raining) so we spilled out into the garden.  Among the gravel I spotted this little Sisyrinchium.  Much shorter than any I have grown or seen in the past, I think it is probably "E K Balls".   Native to parts of USA it is often known as California Blue-eyed grass.   The variety also seems to be known as Balls mauve (assuming I am right in my identification)
