If you can't beat them...

Dahlia.

Really a Dahlia with added interest.  The added interest is (I think) what might be referred to as a dark phase (sorry bird terminology I don't know what it would be in insects) Drone Field Cuckoo Bee.  At least that is about all I can make it into.  It seems some of the drones are occasionally all black.  If I am wrong please let me know.

Cuckoo bees are so called because they behave like a Cuckoo using kleptoparasitism.  Instead of stealing food as some birds do, they con the other bees to raise their young by entering the nest and laying their egg.  Once mature the bee leaves the nest and becomes a nomad not needing a nest.

The shot was taken at the garden centre, we had a lot of places to visit in the Carlisle area, not least picking up the new lawnmower, not from the garden centre but a local specialist.  So we took a break and had lunch along with blippertunities as a break.
