Compton Verney

The forecast had promised a pleasant day so we decided to take some lunch to Compton Verney.  After a drink in their cafe we had a look round the permanent exhibition of paintings based in Naples, most featuring the volcano Vesuvius.

We then took a walk in the wildflower pasture and back by the lake.  This sphinx, one of four on the bridge, looks as if she is staring over the adjacent field wondering who had littered the place with large green blocks, part of an external art installation.
