An ordinary life....

We're all going on a summer holiday...

Backblipped

So of course it rained, rained and rained lots more.  Thunder and lightening too!

This was the scene that greeted us as we joined the Edinburgh bypass.  I kept looking out for Noah and his ark!

The weather improved slightly (well it stopped raining.  Still dull, grey and foggy) and David, Lola and I reached Kielder without incident (that's the longest car trip Lola's been on and she was a star :-) Unfortunately the journey wasn't quite so straightforward for Jordan, Alan and Andrew in Alan's car, and Ally in the hire car.

Instead of bringing him in the main entrance of Calvert Kielder, Jordan's sat nav took him off the main road early and brought him in via some weird and wonderful forest trail!  Not the best driving conditions and pretty disorientating!   Thankfully he made it safely in the end.

Poor Ally faired much worse.  Her sat nav took her miles off course and I got a message from her in a panic, with a photo showing she'd found herself in the middle of some MOD live fire practice ground!  The wifi was virtually non-existent at Kielder so had terrible trouble trying to message her back to get her back on track.  She eventually found a B&B whose landlady told her she was almost in Cumbria and about an hour away from where she should be.  Thankfully she gave her directions and she eventually arrived safely too!

After that ordeal, everyone came to our chalet for dinner of pizza and to relax and plan the week.  The Activities organiser rang us to arrange tomorrow's activities.  Tomorrow it's the climbing wall in the morning then after lunch, a sail on Kielder water aboard the motor cruiser.

Andrew was hyper at being with us and kept thanking us over and over for bringing him.  He is such a sweet lad.  David eventually told him that he didn't have to keep thanking us and that we were delighted he could come.

Alan, Jordan and Ally left to return to their chalet and after a quick tidy up, we fell into bed exhausted!
