Typical Small Town Fourth of July Parade

We put out our chairs last night along the parade route ..... we set them up about a block from our house; part of the parade lines up in front of our beach house, but in order to watch the whole parade we have to walk around the corner and toward town. The parade included vintage cars....silly characters like the one in this shot.....homemade floats.....decorated boats or trailers with kids & adults with all kinds of costumes.....dancing groups......rodeo queen riding her horse ...... fire engines and police car......cars with the Mayor and another with the grand marshal of this year's parade.......everyone threw candy to the kids along the parade route. Ellie was content to sit in her wagon while her grandmother (our daughter in law) put candy in her bucket....she enjoyed the suckers and lollipops (the rest of us took the candy we liked). Ellie was excited to be a part of the excitement all day; she enjoyed the Weiner Dog Races in the park and all the people who came to our house this morning for breakfast before the 11AM parade. Of course, she fell asleep before the big fireworks at 10PM.....the display was amazing this year.....they might have had complaints about last year being the shortest display ever.... tonight's fireworks went on and on.....beautiful.  The beach was crowded with people with their beach fires; but we joined friends at their condo on the beach. It was a great fun day.

But now that everyone else has gone to bed.....I should join them.....so, good night!
