Chippenham (Monday 8th July 2019)

I went back to Chippenham first thing, on the bus this time, to finish off some things begun on Friday, and then went down to the river in Monkton Park for a stroll. I took some pictures but wasn't enamoured of any of them so left them until today to decide which I preferred. You can only blip on the right day for so long!

This was taken after I had crossed over the footbridge that leads to a path up to St Mary Street, and these poppy heads were in the front garden of a residential home there.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Willie Dixon - Spoonful (recorded live, 1974, Chicago IL)
Cerys Matthews played this live version of Spoonful on her Monday night Blues Show on Radio 2, as it has turned up on a new release.
Willie Dixon was a legendary producer/arranger/songwriter/singer/double-bass player and wrote a prolific number of what are now blues standards. Cream's histrionic extended soloing version of Spoonful introduced the blues to a new generation of music fans in the sixties, some of whom may have then discovered Howlin' Wolf's original, written for him by Willie Dixon in 1960.  It is loosely based on A Spoonful Blues, as recorded in 1929 by Charley Patton, but even that isn't the original because it was adapted from both All I Want Is a Spoonful by Papa Charlie Jackson (1925) and Cocaine Blues by Luke Jordan (1927), both credited to Jimmie Cox - and who knows from where he may have found inspiration?
