Goalposts

A dense fog greeted me this morning as I left to ride to work. Dense enough to encourage most road users to be careful of others with whom they were sharing the road.

Just into the Auckland Domain, the rugby fields were covered by fog. The fields are the lowest level within the domain, except for the slopes down the sides of the old volcano.

This photo brings to mind playing rugby as a schoolboy in Hamilton, where the fogs are so thick that someone was able to sell containers of Hamilton fog one year in the 1960s. Such fog made a game of rugby interesting. Interesting because more than once I played in fog that meant there was only one place to see both sets of goal posts; the half way line in the middle of the field. Kick and chase was not a good option.
