Beneficial Weeds

Back home and today I took a walk around the garden to "burn some mental logs" and hopefully resolve some problems with solutions appearing in the mental smoke.

It usually works.

This photo shows our multi species lawn and the collection of "beneficial weeds" I allow to flourish around the lawn edges and under the trees.

Some are wild flowers. Some are nettles which sting but which also make soup and support wild life.

I also notice that wild brambles are growing “a mile a minute" and as these can be quite vicious they will be removed.

Around our vestry door entrance there was a fine crop of organic wild strawberries which California Girl used to make some rather tasty gin cocktails which we sampled as we watched Wimbledon yesterday evening.

The resident birds were quickly on the scene and sampled the remainder of the strawberries so no Blipfoto of these today.
