Sgwarnog: In the Field

By sgwarnog

Plain

Rather a plain looking Ringlet, either very faded or with very underdeveloped rings. So possibly an aberration. The meadow patch in the park threw up Large, Small and Green-veined White, Small Skipper, Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Comma, Speckled Wood and Silver-Y this lunchtime.

Yesterday’s Brown Argus sighting has caused a modicum of excitement in the local butterfly community. Well, I’ve fielded two phone calls anyway. It is apparently the first confirmed record for the site and something of an outlier in the known Yorkshire distribution.
