Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

A modern parable and a glimpse into the future

"The wise man erected his gravestone upon some old railway lines:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that stone ; and it fell not: for it was founded upon rails of iron.

The foolish men, built their stones upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon those stones and they tilted and  fell: and great was the fall of them."

The extra is a fanciful glimpse into the future, into the post-Anthropocene epoch. The foolish humans had ignored their wise ones, the climate had warmed, and warmed, the humans had withered and died, taking much of creation with them, and it had become exceedingly hot.
