The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Monday 29th July 2019)

It was Gardening Monday this week with Refna and good progress was made with the loppers on the goat willow and hazel to let light in to some particularly shady spots, enough cuttings to fill my trailer and bins.
I was sorting through some paint tins ready for the next decorating stint (see Extra) as well as being Hotdiggity Gardening Assistant.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Don and Bob - Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl (recorded October 1961, Chess Studios, Chicago IL)
The Yardbirds covered this possibly politically incorrect song as their second single, when Eric Clapton was still in the band, and another version recorded at the Crawdaddy was on their album Five Live Yardbirds. They knew it from a compilation of Chess rhythm and blues as it was a rather obscure single at the time on Chess's subsiduary Argo label, not released here (though it appeared on an EP by various artists in 1964).
John Lee Williamson (Sonny Boy Williamson I) recorded a song of this title (Wikipedia page) in 1937 but apart from the opening line there is no similarity. It caused enough confusion to mean that Don and Bob got no composer royalties and disappeared into total obscurity after this single.
This track wasn't new to me as it crops up on many compilations but is on one played for the first time this day.
