Victorian schoolgirls

We have had a lovely day out at Preston Park. I chose the venue as there are many indoor and outdoor activities for the children and had the dreadful weather forecast in mind. The girls are best friends forever and they are a delight together. There was an animal event in the Museum and they were able to handle all kinds of small creatures including a skunk and a snake. Then we explored the Victorian High Street and first stop was the shop where they were able to dress up and try on a variety of hats. Grandad joined in and took a fancy to a deerstalker! He is not getting one. All the other shops were explored with a great deal of interest. We had a snack in the cafe and then played on the excellent outdoor equipment. The Family ticket cost £5 which in itself was a bargain but it is valid for 12 months and we can go as often as we wish. Fantastic value. Isla had to leave at 1 30 but Maddie  - and I - wanted to go to Butterfly World which is on the same site. They have some very exotic butterflies in there and we were melting in the heat. There is an extra charge for visiting but it was worth ever penny. We arrived home at 4 p.m. and Maddie ran in to declare she had the best day ever. We will need to repeat it very soon.
