Extra is a corner of the roof of St Giles, which had a brief blink of evening sunshine just before the organ recital at 6.00 pm. Most of the performance by Simon Leach seemed like he'd aimed to use as many of the most splendid set of pipes and stops on the organ as possible, as loudly as possible, and all at once .. there was a lovely melodic passage, an adagio in the CPE Bach sonata in D major, to demonstrate that he could also play beautifully without making quite so much racket.
