Wanderings & Witterings

Incoming!

Seventeen out today for our Ramblers walk. From Auchinstarry we walked up the Roman Military Road, diverting to the Trig Point on Castle Hill, from where this photo was taken, and then across to the Roman Bath-house on Bar Hill (see extra). It had been dry to that point, but we caught the edge of the rain shower pictured in my main Blip. Thankfully we missed the worst of it as it headed down the Kelvin Valley to the north of us.

Our route then took us back down to the Forth & Clyde Canal at Twechar Bridge, where we had our break, and then through Dumbreck Woods back to Auchinstarry. It was a pleasant 7.5km walk and took us just over two hours. Another couple of showers followed us, one just as we were finishing at Auchinstarry, but none too serious. Coffee at the Boathouse and then home, our dose of history and culture done for the day.
