All Ears

I've put what I think is my most interesting shot of the day in extras as it's not very blip friendly. A violet ground beetle is feasting, mouth to mouth, on a dead mouse. These beetles can't fly but can run very quickly and hunt at night for insects and slugs. Sometimes, as in this case, they will eat carrion. Best not to handle them as they have a very strong bite.

This afternoon Ollie dog and I walked at Lodge Farm. My pic was taken as we were having a little rest in the middle of a field of wheat. There is always a breeze here coming up the valley and I enjoyed listening to the gentle rustling of the ripe ears.
