Russian Ridge

Another gorgeous Russian Ridge sunset - there was even a green flash - I knew it was possible to see one over a flat enough bank of cloud, but this was my first eye witness evidence.  The grasses seem to glow with their own light as the evening gets darker.
I was walking with a good friend, and we got in trouble with the ranger for staying too long after sunset - but sitting on a sun warmed rock on top of the highest hill in the south bay as the stars came out was too good to miss.  The poor man was quite frustrated trying to track down some youngsters somewhere in the preserve - what a job! Luckily he decided it was too much trouble to give us old ladies a ticket. But I can understand how careful they have to be, the fire danger must be extremely high, Cal Fire even had a truck parked inside the preserve when we arrived (extra).
