The Oa

We walked up to The American Monument last night after tea and then again this morning. Jess wasnt keen to go past the Highland cattle but they were of a calm disposition and happy to pose for photos.

I've blipped the monument before (last year on a similarly sunny day) but never paid much attention to the quote at its base (extra). Today while D was doing his yoga, I looked it up..from a poem called Bivouacs of the Dead by Theodore O'Hara. I'm sure my American blip friends will know of it.

On a day like this it's hard to imagine such tragedies, but only 48 hours ago, the sea around Islay looked very different from the calm blue of today.
