Two residences

In fact, neither are currently occupied; the sparrows have done parenting and the big house (Trumland House on Rousay) is being gradually restored after a long period of neglect following a fire. Both look lovely from the outside in their own special ways.

We chose this island trip largely on the basis that Dad could manage the fairly small amount of walking required at Trumland House gardens. We were blessed with perfect weather for elderly perambulations, the sighting of an otter swimming sinuously at a rate of knots just offshore, a great hen harrier viewing, mixed seals, an interesting garden space and, last but not least, a good lunch. We've all seen the incredible archaeology there before and couldn't get down to see it with Dad today; and there are some very tempting walks that will have to wait.

Now a bit full of fresh air and a healthy tiredness.
