Fingertips

Montrose were the visitors to The Falkirk Stadium and, after last week's 6-0 thumping of Dumbarton, many of the home supporters were quietly anticipating a similar scoreline today.

It was not to be, as Montrose put up a good performance, with some excellent defensive play, a fair amount of time-wasting and a few dangerous attacks as well. The visiting team took the lead and were worthy of that at the time. Falkirk scored an equaliser before half-time and, despite having most of the possession in the second half, it took a freak goal (a goalkeeper error if truth be told) to give the Bairns a 2-1 victory. Sighs of relief all round.

News that Raith Rovers had lost cheered us up no end, as that now puts Falkirk top of the league. Only three games have been played, and we'll need to play a lot better than that if we are still to be top of the league in May. Three points today, but we were made to work for them.
