Lock gate

Lovely hot bank holiday Monday. What to do? We took out a rowing boat on the canal near to us. Great fun. Neither of us have done much rowing and so there was a lot of near misses with other boats and the bank but no disasters. Later we went for a drink at a very crowded canal side pub. The weeping willows touching the water, the sunlight filtering through the trees and passing narrow boats chugging by. All in all a chilled out day.
This evening I had a Samaritan shift . Some interesting and one frustrating conversations.
Grateful for time spent by the water in summer, a chilled bank holiday away from crowded roads, a chance to offer some encouragement to someone in crisis.
