Above And Beyond...

I met up with my brother this afternoon at his house near Abergavenny (South Wales,UK) as dad was going to stay the night with him and we'd play some golf.

Well over an hour after he was due to be there we phoned his mobile only to find he was at Casualty in Cardiff as he was gardening and had done something to his hand which had swollen badly. Parents, eh!

I had a slow drive home and stopped of at Six Bells, Abertillery. It's the site of a former colliery which has a steel sculpture, The Guardian, to mark the death of 45 men who were killed there in June 1960.

The Guardian is 66 feet tall,  the same size as The Angel of The North but not as well known, probably as a result of not being that visible due to being 'down' on the former site. If only they'd put it on the nearby roundabout!
