A day of two firsts

I’ve run Parkrun plenty of times before, but I’d never got round to volunteering. The problem is that you have to get up earlier than if you run it, whereas if you run it, you can get up later, but you have to run it.

Anyway, I thought it was about time I volunteered, so I signed up as a marshal. I was posted on turn one, where the runners come off the tarmac path and onto the big field. It was a lot more fun than running it. The runners were great and I hope I helped them get round like the other marshals get me round.

In the afternoon, I went to a rally about Brexit. It was surprisingly emotional. I’ve not been to anything political like that before.
