Upcycling

"The process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value."


Farmers have always been natural upcyclers. Old baths as water troughs, rusty bedsteads plugging gaps in hedges, and bald tyres to weight down silage clamps are common sights in the countryside.


Here, plastic barrels have been sliced down the middle to create feed troughs for cattle. (Sea fishers cut the tops off these same barrels and use them to hold nets, ropes and floats, and I have one as a water butt.)


Upcycling: we all need to be doing it instead of throwing stuff away.  Some nice ideas here:
