Life in Sunny Dubai

Old Dubai

Another very early start; today I had a seminar at the Chamber of Commerce which sits on the Creek and gives great views of it. I tried a different angle this time. It was interesting to read that Sheikh Mohammed made a surprise visit to "Old Dubai" and paid 1 dirham to have a ride on an abra! The two poles you see are the masts of two yachts.

The Businesswomen's council organised a seminar titled "Don't Decide Your Future Based on Fear". It was clearly a popular topic as I've never seen so many businesswomen in the room!

Got to G in time to have lunch at home and were out again a few hours later, this time to JLT to attend another seminar on how to bring your idea to life! That was packed as well and gave us some good tips. We also met some interesting people. The security though, to access the elevators and get to the office - we were both asked for ID. G didn't have any on her. I handed over my driver's licence which they actually held on to for the time I was in the building and they took a picture of me using a webcam. The breaches to privacy and data... argh!

It was close to 10pm when we got back to Karama and we decided to have a pizza. Nice to know that Karama's Pizza Hut branch is still open for business. I couldn't believe how full it was on a weeknight! It was heaving! We later discovered that they have a 2 for 1 promotion on a Tuesday. I didn't know that when I placed my order.
