Today I’m heading for Riez. The route doesn’t take in any great sights, but plenty of ups and downs anyway.

It’s also very hot. The websites say 28C - there’s no breeze, and most of the route has no shade. There are a few sections that pass through woodland, over streams, by panoramas of interest, but they are few and far between.

In Riez I drink an overpriced Leffe served by a grumpy waiter. I buy a penknife to replace the one I lost a few days ago. I check into a lovely campsite (Rose of Provence ;) and then head into town to eat.

There are a huge number of restaurants and I, perhaps foolishly, choose a Thai fusion place called the Orchidée - tuna/mango ceviche followed by dorade in a sweet sauce.
