Now and Then

Following on from my entry of 6th September showing the stables, I thought it might be interesting to show the house which is part of the same property.

This was the house for the Beadles and it was built by the church congregation around 1900.

Today’s extra shows the house as it was when it was part of the church property.

When the house was sold off the changes made by the first new owner are quite evident when both photos are compared.

They include the replacement of all the roof finishes, the replacement of the entrance door and windows and the demolition of one of the chimneys.

The interiors remain fairly original apart from the paint finishes. The current owners are very friendly and are excellent neighbours.

Hopefully, one day, it may possible to reverse all the unfortunate changes to the originals.

Interestingly the stables can be glimpsed in the original photo.
