Painted Lady

A few of these butterflies appeared this afternoon seeming to prefer to land on the leaves of weeds rather than on flowers. I think it is a Painted Lady but may be wrong. It always amazes me that something as delicate as a butterfly can migrate - they apparently don’t survive Scottish winters which is not surprising !

I spied the cat in the extra from our kitchen window this morning sitting on one of the wheelie bins - it does this quite often and stares at the birds on the roof or stares at us.
