Pictorial blethers

Cool ...

Yesterday I learned that Kelvinbridge, in Glasgow, has been named by Time Out as one of the 50 coolest neighbourhoods in the world, and today it became even cooler because I was in it (I'll take my tongue out of my cheek now) having lunch with Himself and my cousin and his wife. We were early, having arrived by train and had time to shop briefly in town before taking the Subway from Buchanan Street to Kelvinbridge subway station, off stage left in this photo, at the level of the river. I took this photo from the actual bridge which carries Great Western Road over the River Kelvin, and I know for sure that I've blipped it before; today's difference is that there appears to be a guided walking group setting off along the riverside - maybe in search of the coolest bits.

In my youth, spent in Hillhead and Gilmorehill rather than Kelvinbridge, we Hillhead pupils thought that the area from the bridge onwards into town was rather down at heel, but I don't think it had anything like the proliferation of interesting shops and eateries that it does now. And just in case he's reading this, and because I said something like this before, it would be less cool in the 50s and 60s because a certain eponymous cleric was not then Provost of St Mary's Cathedral, just down the road...
