Bench Tor

What a glorious day and I was out with the local walking group.  We were only a small group and we had a lovely time.  We started at Venford Reservoir walking along the rim of the Dart Valley with beautiful views across to Sharp Tor, see extras.  We walked through an area of woodland with trees dripping with moss, walked over a small clapper bridge surprising some grazing brown cattle and headed for Combestone Tor where we had a coffee break surrounded by more magnificent views, also in extras.  We then headed past Horn's Cross onto Holne Moor through an area of tin workings back to the edge of Venford Reservoir where we had lunch.  After this we headed upto Bench Tor with panoramic views before descending into the picturesque wooded area with mounds of moss and lichens, an area I had visited before with a bird group.  We crossed Venford Brook and made our way back to the cars.

A lovely day out, almost 9 miles of walking and so many photo opportunities.
