From Wordsworth’s desk at Allan Bank

The weather was slightly, only slightly better today. The heavy rain gave way to low cloud and occasional drizzle throughout the day. Only at the end of the day did the cloud disperse and the sun finally break through. More rain overnight is predicted.

Regardless, we made the best of the day with a visit to Grasmere. First to the National Trust’s Allan Bank from where today’s blip from Wordsworth’s desk was taken looking out over Grasmere and Loughrigg.

From there we had lunch at Bawdry’s and a browse around the William Heaton Cooper gallery. I like his paintings of the Lakes. We always call in at the Sam Read bookshop too.

Finally, we walked around Grasmere and Rydal Water via the Coffin Route and Loughrigg Terrace back to Grasmere.

Thank you for all your comments in recent days. I’ve been replying but haven’t been able to visit your journals recently. Normal service will be resumed soon.
