A long wet day in the saddle

Today was the men's elite road race and the final in the UCI 2019 World Championships. The weather was absolutely atrocious with rain coming down all day (and last night). Although the course was shortened due to flooded roads, the cyclists still had to endure 6 and a half hours in the saddle! I think their effort deserves another blip.
This is part of the main peloton thundering around the circuit in Harrogate. They had 9 laps to do (it was originally 7 prior to the route change). Umbrellas were in abundance, as can be seen from the extra.

In spite of the bad weather, the support from the crowds has been remarkable, and it has been a very exciting week for Yorkshire and cycling.
