Schouten Island Trip

We had great day today. We chartered a boat which took us down the peninsula to Schouten Island where we went ashore. It is uninhabited and chances are we were the only people there. Certainly didn’t see sign of any others.
There was a dead whale decomposing on the beach.

It was too choppy to disembark at Hazards Beach for the walk across to Wineglass Bay so we went to the more sheltered Cooks Beach for our picnic instead.

The collage is a summary of our day. We passed a seal colony and saw a decades old eagles nest (still in use) in a tree. Also saw sea eagles but too far off for a blippable shot.

On the way back we were treated to an amazing performance by dolphins playing with our boat. They would swim between the hulls of the catamaran and come out in front, swimming along with the boat.

This evening we went for a pre-dinner drink at the posh resort with the beautiful view you can see in the extra.
Then we went the local pub for dinner.
