Common Enchantments

Shem Creek Visit #2

I hardly ever get to Charleston two times in one month but today my bestie D and I drove down for her doctor appointment and had lunch at one of the many restaurants at Shem Creek on the side where the shrimp boats dock.  The straight up masts are always so interesting with the huge nets for catching shrimp.   This photo is a view of the creek where it runs into the Cooper River before moving into the Atlantic Ocean.

A new restaurant for us to try and we were so glad we went.  It is called Tavern to Table and the food is fresh and homemade.   We had pimento cheese dip with bacon jam..sweet and spicy at the same time!  Yummy combination.    The ultimate comfort food..toasted cheese sandwich but with slow roast beef brisket and horseradish aioli!  Another yummy!

Then we walked the walkway around the dock area and into the marsh walkway.     It was slow but I told D that she was barely limping on her bad foot.  We both were happy to walk but then we were also ready to sit back down in the car for the drive home.   It has been five months since she had her foot broken in a car wreck and four months for me breaking my ankle in a fall.   A  celebration to be able to walk together.  She is not ready for hiking yet but hoping by the first of the year to be able to get on a trail.

A good day and some much needed mental health therapy!
