The Last of the Summer Pollen

I was so glad that I was able to get to the Dahlia Trial Garden at the Agricultural Park today because tomorrow they are tearing it down.  I was suspicious when I arrived because I saw the big wagon at the side of the garden.  A look on the National Capital Dahlia Society Facebook page confirmed it for me.   It seems such a shame, because there are hundreds of pristine flowers and many buds still to open, but I believe the tubers must be dug up before the ground freezes.  Surely all those beautiful flowers will be put to good use by someone.

There were no butterflies, but plenty of bees.  They will certainly be unhappy tomorrow and I am unhappy already.   I have loaded an extra of one of the four paths in the garden.
