Whatever happened to...?

Going through some old photos this afternoon I came across this one I took during a spell as a freelance photographer/ journalist before joining the Glasgow Herald.

It was a local story about a family over in Fife that kept this “big cat”, a young ocelot in their house.

And our kitchen used to be commandeered into darkroom room to develop the photos. This was fine in the winter but during the long light summer months it was a problem getting the kitchen dark enough.

After joining the Glasgow Herald I was not allowed by the NUJ union to take photos. There were strict demarcation lines between photographers and writers.

How times change!
As for the ocelot I have no idea what became of it.

But ocelots have been kept as exotic pets. Salvador Dali had one and even took it with him on board a luxury cruise liner.
